About Us


LatinAirTravel.com is the latest addition to the Latin Travel Publishing Group. The print version of Latin Travel Magazine was founded in 1966 to promote travel to Central and South America's largely undiscovered travel destinations.


The magazine moved to the Internet in 1995 and has expanded it's scope to include specialized sites for Latin wineries, Latin cruising and now, Latin air travel.

Jim Woodman has been Editor & Publisher of Latin Travel magazine/LatinTravel.com since 1966.

Woodman's publishing credits include a wide range of novels, travel, and adventure books with major publishing houses including: Doubleday, Simon & Schuster, Pocket Books (U.S.A), John Murray (U.K), H. Bertlesmann (Germany), Inamura (Japan), plus several other foreign language publishers. On television his on-camera credits include hosting several documentary specials on ABC, British, and Japanese Television.

Woodman has also enjoyed a wide ranging business career that has included senior management positions with Pan American Airways and Travel Advertising International. He was Co-founder of Air Florida Airlines.

Woodman is currently President of the South American Epigraphic Society, and a Director of the International Explorers Society.

He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Universidad de Madrid (Spain), and divides his year between homes in Miami, Florida and Asunción, Paraguay.

Jane Townsend

Jane Townsend joined Latin Travel magazine in 1977 as Art Director & Production Manager. In the mid-1990s she guided the publication's transformation from print magazine to the present online format.

Jane has traveled extensively worldwide and in the past decade has concentrated on South America. She has traveled extensively in Brazil, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands and Argentina. Recent trips to Nicaragua and Colombia have not soothed her itchy foot.

Karen Phelps

After completing a three-year degree not studying journalism Karen accidentally fell into writing when the first article she wrote was published. Now over a decade later she has written literally hundreds of articles on a wide variety of topics from travel to business.

Karen fell in love with South America four years ago when she traveled on a two month trip around Argentina and Chile. Mary Casey Pinto joined Latin Travel in 2009 as Innovative Sales and Dynamic Content Director.

With 10+ years experience in the travel industry between the airline sector, developing Latin niche markets and special interest travel for tour operators, and a stint in the hospitality sector, she knows firsthand the opportunities awaiting travelers to Central and South America.

Her broad experience in all facets of the Latin American travel and tourism industry are a perfect fit for Latin Travel’s philosophy of publishing original travel information.

As we enter our next phase of building a community of resident experts to assist travelers to the region through a web of country specific and special interest blogs, Mary will steer the course and bring first-hand experience to the conversation.

Mary has lived in Brazil, spent some time in Spain, and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Mike Trebilcock

Mike Trebilcock has traveled extensively throughout Latin-America – having visited nearly every country. He is fluent in Spanish and is learning Portuguese..

Trebilcock, who produced many of the VR images of Central and South America for LatinTravel.com, holds both a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Affairs and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Motion Picture Production from the University of Miami. .

A documentary filmmaker, his titles include Firefighters: Ground Zero, The First Paramedics, and Sharks: A Bimini Journal.

Jackie Rosser

Jackie Rosser is an experienced travel and event management professional who's work opportunities have taken her around the world on various assignments. She has settled in Chile for now where she is advancing her Spanish skills and has opened an English language travel agency called Unique Destinations.

Jackie is a contributor to LatinTravel.com and her most recent travel project is taking visitors to this site to a different "unique" destination every month.

Katie Townsend is a LatinTravel.com contributor. Assignments have taken her to Quito, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, the Falkland Islands via Santiago, Chile and to Peru's Sacred Valley of the Incas. Her most recent Latin American trip was to Belo Horizonte in Brazil's Minas Gerais state and to several nearby colonial mining towns.

Katie recently was graduated from the Nicholson School of Communications at the University of Central Florida (M: Advertising and Marketing, m:Hospitality Management). After a post-graduation trip to Europe, she is seeking a job that will allow her to continue to explore the planet.
